The good news is we can easily treat your hearing loss!
Hearing Aid Evaluation is the discussion of specific hearing aid options, following your hearing screening and/or diagnostic hearing test. Your unique results help us to diagnose your degree of hearing loss, establish your ability to understand speech and determine how hearing aids will improve your ability to hear.
If you are not a candidate for hearing aids, as Audiologists, we provide you honest information.
If you show borderline normal hearing or early signs of hearing loss we may suggest monitoring your hearing at a later date. In the rare case that you have poor word understanding and we honestly feel a hearing aid would not provide the necessary benefit, we may recommend you for cochlear implantation evaluation.
If you are a good candidate for hearing aids, and if you are truly ready to commit and move forward to improve your life with hearing aids, we will discuss the hearing aid options available to meet your needs.
The case history you provide helps us determine how much your hearing loss impacts your day-to-day life, as well as the lives of your family. This is why we highly encourage bringing your spouse, adult child(ren), and/or friend to your appointments.
The results from your hearing test provide us with an outline of what sounds you may be missing or hearing, but the personal answers about your daily life and perception about your own hearing needs, provide us the basis for your hearing aid recommendation and customized treatment plan.
During this appointment, we discuss realistic expectations and explain what hearing aids can do to help. We show you different styles of hearing aids and give you opportunity to touch and manipulate the devices. Depending on your commitment level, you may even be able to listen to a hearing aid during this appointment.
We work together as a team. We use our years of education and expertise to help you choose the best hearing aid style, features and level of sophistication based on your degree of hearing loss, lifestyle, and financial situation. The final decision on which hearing aid(s) to purchase is your choice.
Once you make a decision, we may take impressions of your ears if you selected custom hearing aids or behind-the-ear hearing aids that require earmolds. We carry a small amount of stock, but given we work with multiple hearing aid manufacturers to provide true customization, we may have to order your hearing aids from the manufacturer and program them at a later appointment.
